Age calculation formula
Age is found by subtracting the date of birth from the selected date, one unit at a time:
Age = (Age-on date) − (Date of birth)
Years are counted first, then remaining months, then remaining days. If the days come out negative, one month is borrowed and that month's number of days (28, 29, 30 or 31) is added.
Worked example
Date of birth: 15 August 2000. Age on: 10 March 2026.
- Years: 2026 − 2000 = 26, but the birthday in August has not come yet, so completed years = 25.
- Months: from 15 August 2025 to 15 February 2026 = 6 months.
- Days: from 15 February to 10 March 2026 = 13 + 10 = 23 days (February 2026 has 28 days).
So the exact age is 25 years, 6 months and 23 days.

Where you need your exact age
- Government job forms: age limits (for example 18–37 years) are checked on a fixed cut-off date. Set that date in "Age on" to see if you are eligible.
- School admission: many boards require a minimum age as on 31 March or 1 April of the admission year.
- Insurance and pension: premiums and eligibility depend on completed age.
- Driving licence, voting and marriage: legal minimum ages are based on completed years.

How do I calculate my exact age from my date of birth?

How is age calculated in years, months and days?
First the full years since birth are counted, then the full months after your last birthday, and finally the remaining days. If the day of the month is smaller than your birth day, one month is borrowed and the days of the previous month are added.
Can I calculate age on a specific date, like a job exam cut-off date?
Yes. Change the Age on date to the cut-off date given in the notification (for example 1 January 2026). The calculator will show your age exactly on that date, which is how government job and admission age limits are checked.
How is age calculated for someone born on 29 February?
People born on 29 February are one year older on each birthday. In non-leap years, this calculator treats 28 February as the birthday for the next-birthday countdown.
Is the age calculator accurate?
Yes. It uses calendar dates with the real number of days in each month and leap years. For official documents, always follow the date of birth written on your birth certificate or 10th certificate.
How many days old am I?

What is the difference between age in completed years and running age?
Completed age is the number of full years you have lived (for example 25). Running age is the year you are currently in (your 26th year). Forms usually ask for completed age.
Is my date of birth saved anywhere?
No. The calculation runs only in your browser. Your date of birth is not sent to or stored on any server.
