How nakshatra is calculated
Nakshatra number = ⌊Moon's sidereal longitude ÷ 13°20′⌋ + 1
Pada = ⌊(remainder) ÷ 3°20′⌋ + 1
The 27 nakshatras, in order: Ashwini, Bharani, Krittika, Rohini, Mrigashira, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Mula, Purva Ashadha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.
Example
If the Moon is at 50° sidereal, 50 ÷ 13.333 = 3.75 → the 4th nakshatra, Rohini. The remainder 10° ÷ 3.333 = 3 → pada 4.
