GST Calculator formula
Add GST: GST = Price × Rate ÷ 100; Total = Price + GST
Remove GST: Net price = Total × 100 ÷ (100 + Rate); GST = Total − Net price
Within a state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. Between states, the full amount is IGST.
Worked example
Add: ₹1,000 + 18% GST = ₹180 GST, total ₹1,180 (CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90).
Remove: ₹1,180 including 18% GST → net price = 1,180 × 100 ÷ 118 = ₹1,000, GST = ₹180.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate GST on a price?
Multiply the price by the GST rate and divide by 100. Add this to the price to get the total. Example: ₹1,000 × 18% = ₹180, total ₹1,180.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive amount?
Divide the amount by (1 + rate/100). Example: ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000 net, so GST is ₹180.
What are the current GST slabs?
From 22 September 2025, the main GST slabs are 0%, 5%, 18% and 40%, with special rates like 3% for gold and 0.25% for rough diamonds.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For sales within a state, GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For sales between states, IGST is charged for the full rate.
Is 12% or 28% GST still applicable?
The 12% and 28% slabs were removed under GST 2.0. They are kept in this calculator only for checking older invoices.
